Setting Goals with Teen Mothers
The goal of TMCInternational is to "train churches and existing organizations to break the cycle of poverty one teen mother at a time." In order to assist teen mothers in becoming independent functioning members of society, we have to help them formulate a plan. We have to assist them in indentifying and obtaining their specific goals.
What makes TMCI's approach to helping teen mothers formulate a plan for an independent future successful is its two ministry principles:
-
Utilizing the Body of Christ to use their individuals gifts and talents to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to teen mothers.
-
Adressing The Five Life Roles of a Teen Mother™.
Teen mothers are able to reach their goals because:
-
Members of the Body of Christ use their God-given gifts and talents to assist teen mothers in identifying and removing obstacles that may be preventing them from becoming independent. For example, if a teen mother needs stable childcare in order to return to school, a Christian in-home Childcare Provider could partner with your ministry and so provide the needed childcare.
-
We identify goals in all five life role areas. For example, if a 17-year-old mother currently does not have a part-time job, one of her goals may be applying for jobs. This identified goal clearly addresses the "employee" role.
Perhaps Setting Goals with Teen Mothers is the only component of the TMCI Training Process you are interested in providing to teen mothers at this time. TMCInternational is prepared to help you!
